BETTY

FEMALE
15 MONTHS

Betty came into our rescue after toughing it out on the streets of Stockton. Although she was a stray, she paired up with our Husky boy, Maverick, and they weathered the storm together until a good samaritan contacted us and asked us to take them both in. Betty was extremely cautious at first, but now that she has settled in, she is a playful energetic girl. She is extremely smart and looks right in your eyes when you talk to her. She does well on leash, but can pull a little when she is excited. She is a German Shepherd mix, but we are unsure what other breed or breeds are in her makeup. She plays like a puppy, and our vet has estimated her age at 15 months. Betty weighs 55 pounds and is small at 24” tall. She gets along extremely well with Maverick, but tends to be dog selective. Because of that, if other dogs are present in the home, slow intros are a must. Once you earn this girl’s trust, she is extremely loyal and wants all the loves and pets you can give. Betty is spayed, current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

BOB

MALE
5 YEARS

Bob is one of our longest stay guests who came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. He was found as a stray, and when his humans didn’t come looking for him, he wound up on the euthanasia list and was pulled the day before he was to be put down. Bob is a five year old black and red German Shepherd. He is average size for a male weighing in at 78 pounds and measures 26” at the shoulder. When first meeting Bob, he can be a little intimidating because he does deal with some barrier reactivity. Once he trusts you, this boy turns sideways and presses his entire body into your legs so he can be as close to you as possible. We don’t know anything about his past, but he must have had a bad experience or experiences while out as a stray because he does react negatively to other dogs regardless of gender. After going through a board and train program, he is better, but we feel his reactivity is due to his need to protect. Anytime he reacts to another dog while on leash, he turns his body sideways and blocks his handler from the other dog. Bob will need a patient owner with working dog experience who is willing to continue working with him to reduce his reactivity toward other dogs. He is very strong, so a strong handler who is firm but fair would be his ideal person. This boy loves farm equipment, and any time he has the opportunity, he will climb up in the seat of the tractor at the ranch and just take in the world around him. Bob knows sit, takes treats gently from your hand, and allows all over body touching. He enjoys being brushed and wants as much attention as you are willing to give him. He does well on leash while working with him on basic obedience, and after his sessions, he walks well on a fairly loose leash. This guy is food motivated and absolutely loves playing with toys, specifically balls he can toss around. Bob loves water and will lay down in a pool with a ball in his mouth. He is one of the neatest dogs in our rescue and keeps all his blankets and toys neatly tucked away in his bed. Due to his size, strength, and dog reactivity, we will not place Bob in a home with young children. He doesn’t realize how big he is and can easily knock someone over when he’s excited. No cats or small animals either. If you are looking for a Shepherd who will be eternally loyal and protective, and you are willing to continue Bob’s training to help him be the best version of himself he can be, Bob just might be your boy. Bob is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

BOO BOO

FEMALE
5 YEARS

Our sweet girl, Boo Boo, came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. She was the only dog in the home of a man who passed away, and after a week of standing guard over her owner, a wellness check was done and Boo Boo was found protecting her human. No one in his family wanted her, and she found herself being taken to the shelter where she ended up on the euthanasia list. Boo Boo is five years old and still has a puppy-like quality about her. She seeks out human affection and does the cutest wiggle when she’s being shown love. If you sit on the floor, she will climb in your lap and press her body against you. You can tell this girl was shown all the love in the world by her owner before he passed. Boo Boo is a classically marked black and tan German Shepherd. She weighs 65 pounds and stands 23” tall at the shoulder. Having been the only dog in her owner’s house, Boo Boo is extremely dog selective and would do best in a home as the only dog. She walks really well on leash and simply wants to please her handler. Boo Boo loads up in the car easily. She is on the calmer side and would love nothing more than to go for leisurely walks then hang out in the house with her person. She loves being brushed and having her ears rubbed. Boo Boo is spayed, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

HOLLEY

FEMALE
2 YEARS

Pretty girl Holley came to us from the Devore shelter in Southern California. We don’t know much about her past other than she was on the euthanasia list at the shelter. Holley is a young girl at two years old and still plays like a puppy. She is extremely affectionate toward people and will sit calmly for ear rubs. Holley is a German Shepherd mix, possibly with a rough coated Collie. She weighs 70 pounds and stands 23” tall at the shoulder. Although Holley is great with people, she is very dog selective. She prefers male dogs as her play partners, but she does not welcome all male dogs in her space. She is reactive with female dogs, so we will not place her in a home with another female. Holley does well on leash once she gets her extra energy out. She loads up in the car easily and loves riding on the golf cart around the ranch. Holley is extremely athletic and wants to be around people as much as possible. If you love to hike or run, she would be an excellent companion. She loves the water, so if you frequent rivers, lakes, or the ocean, being your plus one would right up her alley. We do want to share that this girl can clear a five foot fence with no problem. A home with secure fencing, supervision, and a place to sleep indoors with her person or people is the type of home where Holley will thrive. She is not a dog who will wait patiently in the backyard for her people to get home from work. Holley is spayed, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

MAVERICK

MALE
3 YEARS

Maverick came into our rescue after toughing it out on the streets of Stockton. Although he was a stray, he paired up with our German Shepherd girl, Betty, and they weathered the storm together until a good samaritan contacted us and asked us to take them both in. Maverick has been a sweet playful boy since day one. He does well on leash, and after burning off his excess energy, he walks without pulling. Maverick is a red and white Husky. He is lightning quick and loves to run, but comes when called for loves and pets. Since we are unsure of his past, we had our vet estimate his age and she feels he is around three years old. Maverick weighs 52 pounds and is small at 22” tall. He gets along extremely well with Betty and doesn’t seem to have issues with the other dogs in our kennels whether male or female. It is always best to do slow intros with resident dogs. Maverick loads up in the car and loves catching treats when you toss them to him. He’s great with being brushed, and after he trusts you, will roll over on his back and give you his belly. Most people are aware that Huskies can be escape artists, but this boy hasn’t tried to jump a fence or go on a walk by himself even once. Maverick is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

MAX

MALE
4 YEARS

Max came to us off the euthanasia list at the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. He entered the shelter as a stray, was adopted, and returned with the adopter claiming Max bit him. There was never a police or hospital report provided. His shelter notes and notes from his doggy day out were phenomenal, so we pulled him since he was rescue only due to the bite claim. Max was listed as an Australian Shepherd mix at the shelter. He is four years old, weighs 63 pounds, and stands 23” at the shoulder. Based on his head structure, we feel he is mixed with either Pyrenees or Saint Bernard. He is a fully grown adult dog, so he won’t get any taller than he is now. We have tested Max in multiple different scenarios and he hasn’t once been aggressive toward people. He does get focused when he sees something he wants, typically ground squirrels, and doesn’t like to be disturbed, but he is easily redirected with a treat. Max allows all over body touching, will turn his body so you can brush both sides and his fluffy rear end, and has great eye contact with his handler. Max has been in playgroups with both male and female dogs and does well, but his preference is to be with a person. He is amazing on a loose leash, is a problem solver, and enjoys playing on our playground obstacles. He has great recall, knows sit, down, and paw. Like playing tug? So does Max, so get the tug ropes ready! He doesn’t seem to have a strong prey drive, if any at all. When the ranch cats pass by, he looks at them, but we haven’t experienced any pulling or lunging to try and get to them. As always, slow intros with resident dogs are a must. If cats are present in your home, supervised interactions are strongly recommended due to Max not having been fostered in a home with cats. If you like hiking trails or walking by the river, Max would love to accompany you. He has been around kids and was good with them. He takes treats gently and avoids his teeth hitting your fingers or hand. He is great in the car, and after a long walk, he would be totally content taking a nap with you on the couch. Overall, Max is a handsome calm boy who just wants to go on walks, have some fun running around, and soak up all the love someone can spare. He would be a great addition to a family, or would love being with someone who will give him all the attention he deserves. Max is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

MAYA

FEMALE
5 YEARS

Pretty girl Maya came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. She was adopted from the shelter as a puppy and found roaming as a stray. When her owners were contacted by the shelter, they never returned the call or went to reclaim their dog. She ended up on the euthanasia list, so well pulled her to give her another chance at a happier life. At five years old, Maya is a super calm girl who wants nothing more than to be loved and given belly rubs. It’s sometimes difficult to leash her because as soon as she sees you bend down, she flops on the ground and gives you her belly. Maya is a red and tan Doberman. She weighs 67 pounds and stands 26” tall at the shoulder. She is a velcro dog and does have some separation anxiety which causes her to pace, so she could stand to gain ten pounds or so. Maya does well with lower energy males and females. She is very submissive and trusting regardless of if she has known you for a while or if she has just met you. Maya is a dream dog on leash. She walks a little ahead of her handler, but always on a loose leash. Maya absolutely loves loading up in the car and going anywhere you want to take her. She does really well tethered in the backseat and will stick her head out the window to check out everyone who passes by in other cars. She will stare into your soul and will readily give kisses if asked. Maya is spayed, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

MEADOW

FEMALE
1 YEARS

Meadow came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. We don’t know much about her past because she was found as a stray, but we definitely know a lot about her now since coming to us in the middle of March and being fostered in the home of one of our board members. Meadow is still just a puppy having just reached a year old, but she is maturing quickly with routine and structure. She is super smart and a little stubborn, but she learns quickly and wants to please. Meadow is a tri-colored Australian Kelpie mix with the prettiest eyes! Heterochromia is the term used when a dog has two different colored eyes, and as you can see, Meadow has one brown eye and one ice blue eye. She is small, weighing in at 38 pounds and only 20” at the shoulder. At the shelter, Meadow was fearful and didn’t like the loud noises or hyper dogs in playgroups. Since she has been with us, she has decompressed and peacefully coexists with three other herding dogs, including our girl Dazzle, and a Belgian Malinois. As always, intros to new dogs need to be done slowly. She absolutely loves to play, and when her herding instinct kicks in, she nibbles on the back legs of her K9 housemates. For this reason, small children who move quickly are not advised. She isn’t aggressive at all, but she will try and herd which can include a nip here and there. Meadow is doing well on leash and loves going for walks. She still pulls quite a bit, but she gets better every day. She is potty trained, crate trained, and will cuddle up on the couch for belly rubs. Want to take a nap? Make room for Meadow so she can lay right next to you! Meadow loads up well in a car, either tethered in the backseat or in a crate in the back of the car. She will sit for treats, loves being brushed, and takes direction well from her handler. She does alright with the cats in her foster home. She will chase, but calls off as soon as she is redirected. Meadow is spayed, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

POPS

MALE
3 YEARS

Pops came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. He was surrendered with his “brother” Tigger after their owner died tragically, and no one in the family would take them in to care for them. Pops is a three year old Pit Bull mix, possibly with a Mastiff breed like a Boerboel or Cane Corso. He is a big boy weighing in at 92 pounds and measures 26” at the shoulder. Pops has a solid black body with white on his chest and toes. Don’t let his size scare you - this boy is a lover and couch potato! Based on the information we have received from the woman who lived next door to Pops, he and Tigger were strictly outside dogs. This is shocking to us because Pops does extremely well on a loose leash and is incredibly affectionate toward people. He craves human interaction and will press his body against you while you pet him or rub his ears. He doesn’t need a lot of brushing with his smooth coat, but like Tig, he absolutely loves the grooming glove and the massages he gets from the person grooming him. The stress of the shelter got to Pops and Tig while they were there, and although they lived together for three years, they were in a pretty severe altercation while being kenneled together at the shelter and had to be separated. They still aren’t fond of one another at the ranch, so we are wanting to place them in different homes. Pops is one of the most chill dogs we have in our rescue. He takes treats gently from your hand, knows sit, and tries his best to do what you ask of him. Even with his size, he has mastered jumping though one of our agility hoops and walks up the stairs on the playhouse with ease. Pops enjoys going for walks, but when he’s done, he just wants to lay in the shade under a tree and relax. He has not been formally tested with cats, but he doesn’t obsess over them when he sees them at the ranch. If you like the XL Bully breeds, Pops would be more than happy to step into your world and become part of your daily routine! Pops is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

RAVEN

FEMALE
3 YEARS

Raven came to us from the Stockton shelter in Stockton, California. This girl is extremely athletic and focuses on whatever her handler asks her to do. Raven is just leaving the “puppy” stage at three years old. She is high energy and would do great with a family who can match that energy. If you’ve ever been interested in getting into dog sports like agility, flyball, or rally obedience, this is your girl! Raven is a solid black German Shepherd with a few tan markings on her legs. She weighs 70 pounds and stands 24” at the shoulder. When she gets bored, she will chase shadows, flies, and birds, but when she is leashed or being played with, all focus is on her handler. If you want a dog you can play ball with, she’ll be the first in line to fetch! She loves playing on our playground equipment in our yard, sits patiently while being brushed, and is easy to leash. She does pull at the beginning of a walk, but once she has explored her surroundings, she calms down and does well on a loose leash. Raven does well with other dogs, but if they get too rowdy, she tends to try and control the excitement and have them tone it down a bit. She does well with gentle playful males and females. Raven loads up well in a car. She knows sit, takes treats gently, and has a wonderful personality. Raven is spayed, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

SPIKE

MALE
6 YEARS

Spike is one of our longest staying guests in our rescue. This gorgeous boy came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California where he was on the euthanasia list. Spike was extremely stressed in the shelter environment, and although he has improved during his time with us, his eyes beg to be seen by someone who sees all of his potential and will make him a part of their world. Spike is a classically marked black and tan German Shepherd who is six years old. He’s on the larger size weighing 86 pounds and measuring 25” at the shoulder. Spike is strong, so this is not a dog for a first-time working breed owner. He needs someone with working breed dog experience, is a firm but fair leader, and can continue teaching him through positive reinforcement, structure, and routine. Spike knows sit and waits patiently to be leashed. He also knows down, and after being allowed to burn off his excess energy, he walks well on leash and is very receptive to learning new things. He allows all over body touch and enjoys being brushed, This boy loves playing ball, he likes water, and is food and toy motivated. We were pleasantly surprised at how athletic he is. When asked to climb stairs, jump through agility hoops, and enter a tunnel, he willingly complied. He can be a bit mouthy when taking treats and can be jumpy when he’s excited. Because of his size, Spike will not be placed in a home with young children. He is not aggressive, but he could knock a smaller person down because he doesn’t know how big and strong he is. Spike is dog selective, so as always, slow intros are a must to be able to successfully integrate him into a home. He does have a fairly strong prey drive, so no cats, small animals, or livestock for this handsome guy. Spike has learned how to load up in the car, but he was hesitant at first. If you have an active lifestyle, understand working breed dogs, and can continue his training, he will be a very loyal companion. Spike is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

TIGGER

MALE
3 YEARS

Tigger, also known as Tig, came to us from the Stanislaus shelter in Modesto, California. He was surrendered with his “brother” Pops after their owner died tragically, and no one in the family would take them in to care for them. Tig is a three year old Pit Bull mix, possibly with Staffordshire Terrier. He is a solid 73 pounds and measures 23” at the shoulder. Tig’s coat is a beautiful black and tan brindle. Based on the information we have received from the woman who lived next door to Tig, he and Pops were strictly outside dogs. This is shocking to us because Tig does extremely well on a loose leash and is incredibly affectionate toward people. He craves human interaction and will sit directly in front of you, look up and smile at you while you pet him or rub his ears. He doesn’t need a lot of brushing with his smooth coat, but he can’t get enough of the grooming glove and the massages he gets from the person grooming him. The stress of the shelter got to Tig and Pops while they were there, and although they lived together for three years, they were in a pretty severe altercation while being kenneled together at the shelter and had to be separated. They still aren’t fond of one another at the ranch, so we are wanting to place them in different homes. Tig is a really calm boy and a complete gentleman. He takes treats gently, knows sit, and will try anything you ask him to try, all while having a big smile on his face. His pictures capture his personality very well. It is difficult to get full body pictures of this pup because he wants to be super close to whomever is working with him. Tig also has amazing recall and is athletic on our playground obstacles. He has not been formally tested with cats, but he doesn’t obsess over them when he sees them at the ranch. This boy absolutely loves playing tug. He’s strong, so if tug is something you like doing with a dog, get those arms in shape so you stand a chance! Tigger would be a great walking partner, then would be pretty content taking a nap next to you after getting home. If you are looking for a really calm dog who just wants to be part of your world, Tig is your boy! Tig is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.

TIMBER

MALE
2 YEARS

Stunning Timber came to us from the Stockton shelter in Stockton, California. He had passed his scheduled euthanasia date and could have been put down at any time. He looks like he is part wolf, but that is just his gorgeous gray and black coloring. Pictures really don’t do this boy justice. Timber is extremely smart and has no problem making direct eye contact with his handler when being asked to do something. He knows sit and shake, and will even speak on command! Have a treat in your hand? Call his name so he looks at you and toss it. He will catch it almost every single time, depending on how well you toss the treat! Timber is a Husky mix with the intelligence and focus of a Malinois. We aren’t sure if he is mixed with a Malinois or a Shepherd, but he is extremely smart and wants to please. Timber hasn’t been dog selective while with us, and will play with males and females. Based on the information the shelter provided, he is almost two years old. He weighs 60 pounds and stands 25” at the shoulder. Have an extra twenty minutes with nothing to do? Grab a brush and Timber will try to climb in your lap while you work on removing his excess hair. He is food and treat motivated which came in handy while trying to coerce him to load up in the car, which he did master. This boy is craving one-on-one human attention and interaction as has been shown every time we have him out to play, train, or just to hang out at the patio table. He loves water, so if you have a pool, hopefully you are willing to share! He takes treats gently, but due to his size, energy, and tendency to jump up on people, we will not place him in a home with young children. Timber will need continued training so he can become more refined, but for a two year old boy, he is definitely on the right path. If you have an active lifestyle and experience with Huskies and working breed dogs, Timber would be an amazing companion and addition to your household. Timber is neutered, is current on all vaccines as well as flea/tick medications, and is microchipped.
